Smart Pantry AI ("we", "our", "the app") respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Account information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and an encrypted password. This is used solely for authentication.
Pantry data: Items you add to your pantry (names, categories, quantities, expiry dates) are stored to provide the core app functionality.
Photos: When you use the scan feature, your grocery photos or receipt images are sent to OpenAI's API for item detection. We do not permanently store your images on our servers.
Usage data: We track consumption patterns and waste statistics to provide your fridge health score. This data is tied to your account and not shared.
Your data is used exclusively to provide Smart Pantry AI's features: pantry tracking, expiry alerts, AI recipe suggestions, smart shopping lists, and usage statistics. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
We use the following third-party services to power app features:
OpenAI: Grocery photo and receipt analysis. Images are processed per OpenAI's data usage policies and are not used to train AI models.
Anthropic: AI recipe generation. Your pantry item list (not personal information) is sent to generate recipe suggestions.
Your data is stored on secure cloud servers (Railway) with encrypted database connections. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and never stored in plain text. API communication uses HTTPS encryption.
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data by contacting us.
Smart Pantry AI is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Contact us at the email below to exercise these rights.
